What is Pilates?
A system of carefully designed exercises, helping to strengthen, lengthen and tone muscles in an even and balanced way. Classes are low impact yet challenging. The exercises focus on strengthening the core muscles and supporting the use of normal posture.
Classes involve a series of strength exercises (some using a Pilates small ball) stretching using resistance bands and relaxation.
Classes are run in blocks of between 5-7 weeks, allowing you to become confident with each exercise and to progress over time.
Classes are small to allow for individual support and hands-on corrections; to ensure the exercises are performed correctly and are the most effective.
What to wear/bring:
Please wear comfortable clothing which will allow you to achieve a full range of motion. Socks may be worn, ideally with a non-slip sole or you can work bare foot. Mats, small balls and bands are available for you to use but feel free to bring your own mat, if you prefer.
